"It is not possible to create a representation or narration of the present in which we live without giving voice and body to actors and actresses with disabilities or with particularly complex life experiences. They embody more than ever the historical moment in which we are living. The people who give life to the performative action are first and foremost performers. Disability and vulnerability, in the theatrical space and in the life generated by the theatrical action, take on a new meaning which contributes to redesigning a different and more enlightened artistic and political vision of differences. This is why I speak of different predispositions rather than disabilities."

Amuri — Rehearsals & Photography

We could call this series of photographs taken during rehearsals of a show inspired by Plato’s Symposium: Love in the Time of Covid-19, paraphrasing G.G. Marquez. The show later became Amuri.
The masks—worn by those who chose to wear them—reflected the state of alertness and distrust we were still living in. Talking about love, even physical love, was almost a challenge—one of many accepted by Gruppo Elettrogeno and I Fiori Blu.

In the gymnasium of the Francesco Cavazza Institute for the Blind in Bologna, we improvised a shooting with few lights. Under the careful direction of Martina PALMIERI, who had precise ideas about which details to highlight, we mostly avoided posing the performers. It was essential to let their movements and gestures remain fluid and natural. With my camera, I followed them in their way of occupying space and interacting with each other.

Fun was always the first priority. Being good together, having fun, and accepting each other without judgment are core values of this theater group.
This philosophy also shapes my photographic work. I have developed it slowly, respecting my possibilities—including logistical ones, since I live in Marseille—and my growing admiration for their work. I value their ability to update ancient and universal themes, as well as the therapeutic dimension of their practice, which never compromises artistic quality.
